Cape Cod’s best high school performers in concert for the homeless

A Barnstable County Human Rights Academy project

hosted by Cape Cod Academy and Cape Cod Community College

All Proceeds from the 2011 concert went to support Homeless not Hopeless, a blessed gift from the students of Cape Cod Academy.  Two years in a row the students have performed this concert and donated the money to HnH.  The proceeds of this amazing event goes to fight homelessness, so all are encouraged to attend the 2012 Shelter from the Storm Concert in February.  Once the detail are finalized (date and time) we will be sure to publish them on this web page.

The need:

With over 18,000 unemployed on Cape Cod and funding at almost every level cut or gone, churches and private donations are the last line of help. In the last few years, over 60 people have died in our woods and streets. A quarter of the nation’s homeless are veterans – who deserve better than this. We are trying to raise enough money to be of material help to the Homeless not Hopeless shelters. Their program has an impressive success rate at getting men and women off the streets and into – first the shelter – then into jobs and permanent housing. Homeless not Helpless was the beneficiary of our second Shelter concert and our student crew were so impressed with the program, they want to help them again.

Our project:

The best student artists from across Cape Cod will perform in concert to raise money for The Homeless not Hopeless Program. This will be a showcase of high school talent, featuring 18 acts: singers, bands, dancers, and instrumental performers from high schools across the Cape. Our first concert raised enough money to feed the Noah Shelter for 4 months. We’ve raised almost $20,000 in our first three years. The Shelter concert program was the recipient of a philanthropic award from the Planned Giving Council of Cape Cod in 2009.
